Cruise past the volcanic island of Palea Kameni. Optional swim in the warm sulphur springs — the water is noticeably warmer here, a natural geothermal bath. The sulphur gives the water a distinctive mineral quality. Note: the sulphur-rich water may temporarily discolour light-coloured swimwear. Dark swimwear is recommended for this stop.

Santorini sunset times vary dramatically through the season. Our departure time shifts accordingly, so you are always anchored at the optimal position when the sun begins its descent.
The captain selects the day's anchorage based on wind, cloud cover, and the date. Typically we position between the volcanic island of Palea Kameni and the cliffs near Oia, facing west across the open caldera. On some dates, the best position is near the Akrotiri lighthouse. Your captain has done this hundreds of times — trust their judgment. They know exactly where to be.
The sun does not simply "set" in Santorini. It descends in stages. First, the light turns gold and the caldera cliffs glow warm. Then, as the sun touches the horizon, the sky breaks into bands of orange, pink, and deep rose. The sea surface becomes a mirror — impossibly still, reflecting every colour. The volcanic islands in the caldera turn to silhouettes. Finally, as the sun dips below the horizon, the sky deepens through violet to indigo, and the first stars appear.

You do not need to be a strong swimmer to enjoy this cruise. Life jackets are available for every guest, and the crew keeps a close watch during all swimming stops. If you prefer to stay on board, enjoy the scenery, a cold drink, and the peaceful anchorage — there is absolutely no pressure to get in the water.
Life jackets in child sizes are provided. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the water at all times. The crew keeps a general watch over all swimmers, but direct parental supervision is essential.
The volcanic hot springs at Palea Kameni contain natural sulphur. The water is warm (24–28°C) and may temporarily discolour light-coloured swimwear. We recommend dark swimwear for this stop. The sulphur smell is natural and harmless. The springs are a unique experience — just be aware of the swimwear issue before you pack.
Yes. The caldera waters are generally calm and sheltered. There is no dangerous marine life in the caldera — no sharks, no jellyfish of concern, no hazardous creatures near swimming areas. Sea urchins can occasionally be found near rocks — the crew advises you not to touch them and to keep a safe distance. The swimming stops are in open, clear water with excellent visibility.
